The VERA Institute and the New York Immigration Coalition issued a response the the recent New York State budget resolutions which included budgetary commitments to fund immigration services.
Both VERA and NYIC felt the budget commitments fell short of what they expected and what they say is needed. They are also championing the passage of the Access To Representation Act which would provide government funded attorneys to represent immigrants facing deportation.
