City Pols Argue For Immigrant Services In City Budget Hearings

New York City elected officials – like new Brooklyn Democrat City Council member Shahana Hanif – are attending New York City Budget Hearings to argue for allocation of funds for immigrant services.

The allocation of city spending is dangerous waters and the advocates for adult literacy and other immigrant services are fighting for every dollar.

Hanif – who represents District 39, which includes parts or all of Park Slope, Borough Park, Kensington, Windsor Terrace, Gowanus, Carroll Gardens, and Cobble Hill, and includes large Southeast Asian communities, including the Bangladeshi-Americans – is the lead representative of the Mayors Office on Immigration Affairs (MOIA).
