Brooklyn Council member Lincoln Restler joined the Greenbrook Tenants Council in alerting community of what they deemed as unfair business practices from a private equity firm buying buildings and allowed to evict non-rent stabilized tenants with just 30 days notice.
The canvassing took place in Greenpoint and Williamsburg. So far the response has mostly been to leave when sent a non-renewal notice since the tenants can’t compete with the firm in a protracted legal battle.
